Asiwaju Yinka Mafe's Presentation On "Remo Parliament" Loop On August 31, 2018. Check below for a brief presention, questions and answers;
Good Morning Great Remonians home and abroad. May I first of all commend the initiators of this rarely decent political loop. I respectfully also extend my specially regards and honour to our own Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramout Ruler of Remoland. Kabiyesi ooooooo...
Today we live in a world where we naturally find it difficult to render a little help to our fellow human. This is in the face of a very harsh economic conditions where alot of people struggle to make a living. We will price orange from the woman hawking under the sun to the last kobo but walk into shoprite and pick them for any amount without hesitation.
People First In Politics:
You cannot be a representative of the people and say there are issues you must not stand with the people for. Once its the interest of the people that voted you every other thing should take back seat whether its Police brutality, tribal clash, accidents, peaceful protest, etc.
A very good and instructive case study that readily comes to mind is that of our own (REMO) Chief Obafemi Awolowo who was tried for Corruption under Coker Inquiry, later Treason in a regular court, he never said it was becase he was a Christian or Yoruba. He defended himself, and when his lawyer was denied entry visa to Nigeria, and his first son, an international lawyer, was coming to court to defend him, he died of road accident on his way... Abraham Adesanya broke the news to Awo inside the court, he expected Awo to start weeping but he did not. Awo called the attention of the Judge to the development and asked for permission to defend himself and other Accused.
"Segun is dead already, we that are alive must defend ourselves so that we dont die too. This is treason, we must defend ourselves first before we mourn my beloved son" That to me is the height and embodies everything about our topic of the day.
AWO was a true leaders that served people altruistically unlike egocentric of hitherto in Nigeria. We politicians of today MUST learn selflessness to our people. Remo need alot more of politicians that are selfless and our younger ones need to be mentored in this line by us they see as big brothers, fathers, leaders and elders alike.
My fear is that if we countinue our selfish ways and dont do something drastic about trying to balance the equilibrium in our personal, religious, political, social and economic lifestyles I am afraid the saying that:
"When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich." by Jean-Jacques, may come to past in our generation or next generation.
Thank you all for your time.
*Q* : Good morning Hon. Mafe. Please can you tell this honourable platform, 4 major selfless services you render to when you emerge as the HOR for Remo Region. Thanks
*A* : AYM:
1. I will always be available for every important event occassion despite been in Abuja.
2. I will scout ALL MDAs and ministries for Jobs for Remo youths periodically.
3. I will put myself in a siuation always to make sure Remo gets the best of available dividend of democracy sacrificing my personal interest.
4. I intend to extend the free school bus scheme to the whole of Remo where its needed.
*Q* : @asiwaju mafe, the Nigerian Police Force recently published in national dailies and it's all over the social media that they have 15 criminal allegations against you. Can you tell the people of Remoland your position on this? And pls tell us the legal steps you have taken so far to sue the police if all these allegations are not true?
*A* : AYM: We all know that the publication you refer to is about 2yrs old. It was made in reaction to Sagamu agitation that I keyed into to remove the then DPO from office for extortion. I have sinced written to the police where I challenged them to charge me to court and I also presented this challenge on the floor of the house. The CP was invited and he apologised for this. I am satisfied with the apologies after House members prevailed on me. Thanks
*Q* : @Hon 'Y Mafe what is/are Bill('s) you think crucial for Remo indigene and habitats to lobby/passed when you get to the green chamber.
*A* : AYM: I honestly think we need the presence of atleast a Federal Vocational Training Institute if not a University in Remo. I also think that with the presence of some many industries in Remoland and with more to come, the bill to have qualified indigenes first before outsiders should be pushed through. Thirdly, I will look at Bill to help our farmers. But most importantly I must say from experience its when one gets there that one will look properly into what's on ground and develop same to work better for Remo. Thanks
*Q* : Good morning Hon.Yinka MAFE... I have been waiting for a moment like this to ask you something related to the empowerment program by AYM Foundation, Sir there is a news that the program is a scam in disguise that most of the participants were not equipped but leave on empty promises after the training, any explanation on this sir?
*A* : AYM: Thanks sir.
Am sure what you meant is that for example we trained 100 people in make up and only bought the start up kit for the best 20 in the class.
My brother, thats is done to make sure they are serious and because of the cost.
Please Note: Empowerment at the State Assembly level is not funded by the Government. Its strictly from you Salary and Allowances. Its not part of Constituency Project either.
*Q* : Good thought, @Hon Asiwaju Yinka Mafe kindly mention just two bills that you have successfully sponsored to favour the good constituents of yours? Thank you.
*A* : AYM: I have sponsored and co-sponsored over 25 bills.
1. I Sponsored the Anti-Land Grabbing Bill because of our proximity to Lagos especially Ogijo area.
2. I co-sponsored the Kidnapping Law we have in Ogun State today. I must add that as the Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, its my duty to sponsor ALL the Executive Bills since 2015 to date. Thanks
*Q* : @AYM, recently, a notorious and dreaded criminal nick-named Spartacus mentioned your name as his sponsor for many criminal activities which involves ritual killings and other horrible attrocities. What is your relationship with Spartacus? And pls tell us, are you a member of any cult group? Pls you need to clear the air sir.
*A* : AYM: Its all Dirty Politics and am happy the people of Remoland can easily see through this. I dont know anyone called Spartacus and I am not a member of a Secret Cult.
*Q* : Thanks for this response sir as a selfless policatician sir there is a case of oppressing people with your political office recently in Remo North in which some innocent youth were arrested and remanded unlawful I will like you to say something about that sir because we want to know if you're not going to oppress us with security agency when you're voted for as our MHR.
*A* : AYM: All my life I have fought oppression!
It is unfortunate that in politics proffessional politicians want to do everything they can to discourage Professional from Politics. I say categorically without fear of contradiction that I was not in anyway involved in the case and my response when I heard of the case was what helped facilitated their release.
*Q* : I must confess to you that I'm so much happy to see you here today, I've longed for a day to ask you this question. There has been a lingering issue that has to do with your name and person. It has to do with this particular case of fraud and act of dishonesty which was confirmed by a competent tribunal in UK. @AYM, can you tell us what really transpired and the reason why you are blacklisted to practice law in UK?
*A* : AYM: I have responded to this since 2009 in various National Dailies. The short version is that I own a law firm in the UK and choose to heed my peoples call to come represent them in 2011. The UK law Society wanted me to wind down my practice over a one year period (mainwhile within that one year you are not expected to take new case but you will pay rent and taxes) but I needed to come home so I gave them four months notice instead of one year. Thats the breach and its ADMINISTRATIVE not criminal. I have since visited UK in 2012 and 2013 to resolve this administrative matter. Thank you for this rare opportunity to clear the air once again.
*Q* : My questions:
1. If elected at the general election to represent Remo at the House of Representatives, how often will you be having a town hall meeting or should I say what is the easiest way to have a feedback to your constituency. Bearing in mind, this is a FHR (Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North)
2. Do you really think the purported IjebuRemo State was a positive move and what has been your contribution ever since on such move? What are the challenges and any way out?
3. I know most of the Remoland queens support the Mafelafe campaign, how can you assist most of them in their respective town project. This is because I noticed most of them don't understand their offices and I believe you are capable to make their dream come through. Not necessarily financial assistance to support their tenure.
*A* : AYM;
1. By having and maintaining a Reliable and Effective Constituency Office in all the 7 LG and LCDAs.
2. It will be positive if and only if Remo gets the capital. I was the Chairman of the PAN Remo Group.
3. Thats the plan to help them use their offices better to serve their communities and humanity in General. Thanks.
*Q* : Sir, a year ago Ogun State government conducted an interview exercise for over 10,000 graduates across the state and each graduate paid #10,000. My honourable Sir for over a year the interview exercise has been inconclusive and I know hundreds of Remo graduates (most especially from ofin constituency) that paid this said amount. Some of my friends from your constituency (ofin) and Remo in general said Governor Amosu used our money to celebrate his last colourful birthday anniversary that he did last year and some said the state governmnor scammed his people and also your people from Remo.
*A* : AYM: Please I will like to get a complaint or petition on this and I promise to get justice if the accusation is true. I must say I dont have the facts of this case please. Kindly help me to serve you better sir.
*Q* : My question is this: How will you rate the performance of the present occupant that is representing the good people of Remo Federal Constituency at the Green chamber and also how else do you think you can surpass him? Thanks sir.
*A* : A: AYM: I think hes doing his best considering time and the exigencies of the situation he finds himself but i believe there's alot still to be done. I intend to use my experience so far to improve on this: mainly in the area of relating better with the office of the VP, lobbying more among the house leadership and Ministries to bring more to Remo. This is among other programmes I stated earlier. Thanks.
*Q* : Sir you accused them of robbing you of #1million 350k phones and jewelries as read out in the first court hearing.
*A* : AYM: I didnt. I have denied this severally even on Rock City FM when I was invited. Note: Its mainly that denial that help facilitated their release sir.
*Q* : @Hon Asiwaju Yinka Mafe pls hon sir can you tell us what is going on between you and our Hon. Mrs Dewumi Onanuga Ijaya?
*A* : Shes my lovely EGBON and we are in very good relationship but for the fact we are contesting to be APC Candidate. May I use this medium to apologize publicly if she or any of her supporters think theres any misunderstanding btw us. I love and respect her as my big sister.
*Q* : As the current Majority leader of OGHA, in your constituency have you been treated in one of the clinic around you in the last 8years? If yes when and how have you influence making clinics and medical facility in your area worthwhile? If No why?
*A* : AYM: Yes I have. I was actually treated by the nurse at the Health Centre in Emuren during the Ileya period. I have reconstructed the Idado Health Centre in Ayegbami and reconstructed the Latawa Health Centre in Sagamu. I have made sure OOUTH gets it yearly budget passed without hinderance for the past 7yrs and this is one of the reason the hospital has been open everyday since 2011 till date unlike what we had before 2011.
*Q* :
1. Hon AYM sir, you were Chairman of the house committee on education when the idea of the Ogun Modern schools were conceptualised and construction started. Sir, judging from the huge billions the present administration used in putting the school edifices in place, do you think the schools' present status justifies the heavy billions spent?
2. Haven been privileged to sponsor the executive bills since you became Majority Leader in the house, how many projects have u been able to bring to your present constituency? Can also please justify the concentration of projects in Abeokuta at the detriment of other LGs
3. What is your position on LG autonomy and why is it difficult for OGHA to give LGs their overdue autonomy?
4. When Anthony Joshua defeated Klitschko, you pronounced renaming Sagamu Int Stadium after him and it was reported in some dailies. Why is it yet to take effect?
5. What was your position as Chairman of the house committee on education when OGSG planned scrapping TASUED?
6. What was your position when same government that wanted to scrap TASUED over paucity of funds, established another polytechnic in Ipokia?
7. The model school in our constituency is yet to commence academic session. What efforts have you put in place to make things work for good?
8. My entire tuition fees for my 4years programme in OOU was in the bracket of #60k. I learnt that 60k can't pay more than acceptance fee now. What caused the outrageous increment?
9. What was your position when Ogun State government denied RSS Old Student the use of school premises for their reunion despite having approval to use it? And also, why did the government planned to demolish the sport facilities that was put in place by the old students?
10. I noticed we don't have ETF/UBE projects in our public schools as it uses to be before. What can you say is responsible for this? Were the funds diverted to other projects or ETF/UBE is no more in existence?
*A* : AYM:
1. Presently because its not yet in use I will say I dont think it justifies it. But be rest assured it will be put in use soon from the assurances given by the Commissioner of Education the last time we summoned her.
2. Implementation of Budget is for the Executive. Am a legislator, i can only lobby. So far i got the Sabo to Ode-Lemo Road which will also go to Emuren, Akarigbo Road with its bridges and flyover, Sagamu-Ikorodu Road b4 the FG came on it, the Model School you metioned, severally facilities in the OOUTH to mention a few.
3.The Constitution needs to be amended to remove House of Assembly powers from controlling the LG. I was once a councillor and not happy with the Joint Account Law btw state and LG
4. Its a process. We are still on it bro.
5. I stood against it. I made a superior arguement to the Governor that we have over 20,000 secondary graudates yearly and Jamb cant allow only OOU admit more than 5000 yearly. What happens to the rest.
*Q* : What are your plan to eradicate poor health care system if elected and what are your contribution so far to ensure Remo both young and adults have good health services(any bills sponsored) Sir?
*A* : AYM: I also facilitated Shell Petroleum Company to come build a modern hospital for the public use in Ogijo. Its massive. Let me add that I sponsored the Primary Health Care amendments bill and the anti-HIV stigmatization Bill among others I can recall now.
*Q* : Sir almost every speaker in this Parliament have been talking more of infrastructure and economic development. The current position you are holding , how effective is it in curbing social vices in Shagamu as a case study and as a leader of OGHA, what bill have you sponsored against cultism, armed robbery, rape and murder because I know of a truth your constituency falls under this rage of happening on high way and on street
*A* : AYM: My brother, we all can attest to the fact that Sagamu of 2018 is far from what it was before 2011 in terms of security. Everything cant be solved with laws though we have passed instructive laws to help. More importantly we have engaged these boys by providing them with something doing and enlightened them of the wastefulness in engaging in unnecessary fights. I most appreciate the impact of the KOSO business in the peace of Remoland.
"Thank you very much for this rare opportunity once again. Together we will make Remoland great again" Asiwaju Yinka Mafe concluded his presentation.
God Bless Remoland!!!
