BIOGRAPHY.

Asiwaju Yinka Mafe was born on February 4th, 1974 to the family of Chief Timothy Mafe and Mrs Lydia Mafe (of blessed memory) in Emuren, a suburb of Sagamu, Remo, Ogun State.

EDUCATION

He grew up in Warri, Delta State where he started his Primary School education at Igbudu Primary School and completed same at Nana Primary School. He proceeded to Hussey College, Warri for the early part of his Secondary School education which he completed at Dom Domingos College, Warri in 1990.

“Asiwaju”, as he is fondly called by his people, had his Tertiary Education at the University of Benin, Benin City where he obtained his first Degree in Law (LL.B) from the Faculty of Law in 1998. He went on to obtain his B.L from the Nigerian Law School and was called to Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2001. He went further to obtain a Masters degree (LL.M) in International Business Law from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, England in 2006.

LEGAL CAREER

Asiwaju obtained his Legal Professional Certification to practice Law in the United Kingdom (UK) from The College of Law, London in 2005 and became a Solicitor in the UK, where he set up his own Law Firm, MIB Solicitors.

In 2010, he returned to Nigeria and set up another Law Firm, Westminster’s Legal Chambers in Sagamu, Ogun State.

POLITICAL CAREER

Asiwaju began his political career 20 years ago in 1998 just after his graduation from the University of Benin. In search of a solid and viable platform to serve his people, the fresh graduate contested for and was successfully elected as a Councillor in Ward 3, Ayegbami, Offin, Sagamu under the auspices of the then Allaince for Democracy (AD).

To his credit, he successfully drafted the Bye-Laws for Sagamu Local Government, an achievement many considered a great feat for a young man at the time.

Following his return from the UK, he contested for and was elected for his first term as a Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Sagamu State constituency 1 under the auspices of the then Action Congress (AC) in 2011. During this term, he served as Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology and Vice Chairman, Transport Committee. Other Committee memberships included Commerce and Industry; Environment, Works and Infrastructure; Land and Housing; Agriculture and Forestry.

In 2015, he was successfully re-elected for a second term under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serves as a Principal Officer in the position of Majority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA). He has held this position since June 2015.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Asiwaju in his 20 years of political career has been a strong, resilient and passionate voice for his Remo people in particular and Ogun State in general. As a seasoned politician and leader, he has consistently demonstrated and epitomized the true meaning of servant-leardership. This sterling quality, is easily reflected in the outstanding performance and achievements in people-oriented programmes and schemes that he has recorded over the years, some of which are:

1. He facilitated the Employment of over 100 sons and daughters of Sagamu still counting.

2. He facilitated Admissions of over 300 Youths (and still counting) in Sagamu to various Tertiary Institutions.

3. He has sponsored well over 60 Resolutions and 32 Bills both as a member and as the Majority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly. Part of which are;

i. The Bill on Vocational and Technical Education
ii. The Resolution that Confisticates any building that encroaches on Public School Land in Ogun State after visiting ALL our Public Schools in Ogun State as Chairman Education Science and Technology Committee.
iii. Local Government Autonomy Bill
iv. House of Assembly/ Legislative Autonomy Bill
v. Judiciary Autonomy Bill
vi. Co Sponsored Anti Land Grabing Bill
vii. Co Sponsored Anti Kidnapping Bill
and so much more...

4. Reconstruction and expansion of Idado health centre with modern facility.

5. Renovation of Health Centre at Latawa.

6. Built a 4 classroom building at LG school sabo

7. A Block of 4 classroom with toilet at St John's School Ogijo

8. Asiwaju 'Yinka Mafe launch a Free School Bus/Shuttle for pupils in his constituency hat will convey pupils of any of our public schools

9. Built an ultra modern 1000 Seater town hall at Emuren.

10. Organising and Sponsoring free coaching classes to all secondary Schools Students in Sagamu since June 2011 to date.

11. As the Chairman House Committee on Education Science and Technology between 2011-2015, he visited all the public schools (Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions) painstakingly finding individual solution to the Schools Land Encroachment putting a lasting solution to our hitherto shrinking school premises.

12. Distribution of Free Form, Waec, Neco and Jamb lesson from 2011 till date for the Students of his constituency.

13. Asiwaju 'Yinka Mafe also printed and distributed writing materials to all Public schools in Sagamu

14. Own a free and Functioning ICT centre to all and sundry in sagamu.

15. Periodically Organised Free Medical Care, Training and Re-Training of Traditional Birth Attendants (for Safe Delivery of Babies).

16. A mother of all Empowerment of more than 1000 people in Sagamu where scores of sewing machines, Grinding machines, motorcycles, Deep Freezers, Hair dryers, Barbing clippers, Generator sets were given out to masses.

17. Asiwaju 'Yinka Mafe sponsored Eye Surgery for 250 beneficiaries (free).

18. Asiwaju 'Yinka Mafe inter-Secondary School Football Tournament (1st Asiwaju 'Yinka Mafe REMO PRINCIPALS' CUP).

19. He played instrumental roles in bringing peace to crisis turn Imuti, It's Oluwo in 2016, when the place was ravaged by militants.

20. He facilitated Health Centre Project with Shell Petroleum to Ogijo.

21. He bankrolled with the State Government in the reconstruction works of Sagamu Ogijo Federal road.

22. Sole sponsorship of Miss Sagamu 2017 With a Gift of a New Car, fully Sponsored Dubai Trip and Monthly Salary for her reign and Youth carnival.

23. He facilitated the construction of over 1 billon model school at Likosi.

24. He facilitated 11 transformers to communities in his constituency.

25. He contributed public Toilet in some Secondary schools.

26. Construction of 5 bore holes in Emuren.

27. Empowered over 700 people with Skill Acquisition and EMPLOYABILITY PROGRAMME.

28. Facilitated construction of Akarigbo Road.

29. Remo Water For All.

30. Built A Block Of Six Toilet Rooms @ Olomimeji Secondary School, Emuren.

Asiwaju, in his unwavering commitment and tireless drive to continually reach out, touch and impact his people, is also the founder of the Asiwaju Yinka Mafe Foundation, a platform through which some of his empowerment programs are achieved.

FAMILY LIFE

Asiwaju Yinka Mafe is married with lovely children to his beautiful and amiable wife, Yeye-Asiwaju Adetutu Yinka-Mafe.
