LAND GRABBERS: Second Phase Of Peaceful Protest Holds In Sagamu Today

Just earlier this Month, the good people of Makun kingdom staged a peaceful protest against the land grabbers in the community.

Another phase of peaceful protest was staged today where the young and aged ones trooped out en masse to show their solidarity, kicking against the grabbing of Lands and brutality of Land owners by HRH, Oba Adewale Adeniji, Oniraniken of Iraniken and his cohorts.

It was reported that Oba Adeniji had stormed the Makun villages with hoodlums, claiming ownership of the lands, macheting and shooting the innocent people on their own lands.

Some of the villages Oba Adeniji claimed are, Oke Ate, Oke Rala, Ewu Ogun, Igbo Igbeyin, Itaya, Ajebo, Kanuyi, Ewu Losi, Ewu Regun, Simawa and its environ.

The peaceful protesters marched from Ewusi Palace down to the Akarigbo Palace where the Remo Council of Obas' held their monthly meeting.

At the sight of the peaceful protesters, all the Kings on ground were alerted immediately and two delegates, Eleposo of Epeoso and Onilaye of Ilaye were sent to address the protesters, Oba Eleposo addressed the people and assured them of prompt actions, he then urged them to go home peacefully, requested for two representatives and their contacts so as to contact them at the appropriate time.

The peaceful protesters declined Oba Elepeso's order as they continued singing solidarity songs, they emphatically stated that they won't leave the Akarigbo Palace until the Akarigbo himself and Remo Obas address them.

As a Paramount Ruler, who hearkened to his people voices and yearnings from time to time, Oba Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, in company of other Remo Obas, came out to address the peaceful protesters.

One of the leaders of the Protesters, Hon. Jamiu Alabi Olododo briefed all Obas on the recent happenings where he stated categorically that most of their lands are forcefully and illegally taken over by Oba Oniraniken and that Makun people who are the real owners are ready to claim ownership of their lands, he reiterated that Makun people are law abiding citizens and thereby call all Obas to find a lasting solution to such ridiculous, inhuman and unlawful act exercised by Oniraniken and his team.

Oba Timothy Oyesanyan, the Ewusi of Makun addressed the peaceful protesters, implored them not to vandalise any properties, neither destroy vehicles nor march to Oniraniken Palace. Oba Ewusi notified Akarigbo that his people would go to their various villages and claim their lands if nothing is done within seven days and that Oniraniken should be warned to put a stoppage to all forms of impersonation, and that the attack on Makun lands is becoming alarming, disturbing, unbearable and worrisome.

In his response, Oba Akarigbo urged the peaceful protesters to be patient, he preached peaceful coexistence amongst all, he promised to act accordingly and appropriately within the stipulated seven days.

Oba Akarigbo in his remarks applauded the peaceful protesters for not taking laws into their hands and for coming for the second time to show their grievances to all Remo Obas, he them prayed that Remo shall continually remain peaceful.

Immediately after Akarigbo's remarks, the peaceful protesters marched down to the Ewusi Palace, where they we appreciated and commended for coming out en masse for the protest.

Those who were also in attendance are as follow;  Otunba Kayode Howells, Otunba Atunluto of Makun Kingdom, Chief Solomon Adegboye Oguntade, Bale Oke-Rala Odofin, Chief Tajudeen Azeez Odunuga, Bale Okerala, Apena Seriki, Chief Muili Owolabi Okeowo, Bale Regun Ojokoro, Chief Olarewaju Ademola Akinsanya, Bale Ipa, Chief Wahab O.B Sodiya, Bale Kanuyi, Chief Jamiu Bello Otun, Baale Oke-Rala Tarogun, amongst others.
