BREAKING: Ogun LG Poll: BARUWA, AFO, PATO Battle For APC Chairmanship Ticket In Sagamu

May 17, 2021

It's no longer new to Ogun State Indigenes that the battle for the Chairmanship position is ongoing, this was due to the election timetable earlier released by OGSIEC.

It was gathered that all Political Parties in Ogun State have commenced Electioneering process in ensuring that a Chairmanship and Councillorship Candidates emerge.

SON correspondence had earlier reported that a close source to some Political Leaders in Sagamu had revealed some names which was stipulated in the previous report dated May 16, 2021.

All Progressives Congress, Sagamu Local Government chapter is not left out as the Leaders who are 33 to 34 in number participated in the selection process today.

They Leaders acted on the instruction from the Governor who had earlier implored all Leaders across the state to pick a consensus candidate and that where they are unable to pick one person, they should pick two or three Aspirants which made the Sagamu Leaders to reduce the list of Aspirants to just three through voting process.

Though, the Leaders tried to pick one consensus candidate but all their efforts to do so proved abortive as different camps came in with different interests and candidates.

Each of the Leaders were allowed to cast a vote by writing the names of three Aspirants each from those contesting, such as Hon. Baruwa, Tope PATO, Ogbeni Afolabi, Hon. Kashi, Mrs Modinat, Comrade Salami, Hon Tola Belgium etc.

The votes were collated where Hon. Gbenga Banjo aka Baruwa, the sitting Caretaker Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate aka AFO and Prince Temitope Oladunjoye aka PATO emerged as the three Consensus Candidates whose names would be forwarded and the Governor is to pick based on his findings and discretion.

All the Aspirants did wonderfully well by pulling some votes, Tope 12 votes, Modinat 11 votes, Kashi 7 votes, Salami 9 votes, BARUWA 24 votes, Afo 16 votes and Belgium 7 votes where the first three Leading Aspirants were chosen to battle for the APC Chairmanship ticket in Sagamu Local Government.

SON also reported that three out of fourteen Aspirants stepped down in the race for Ogbeni Afolabi AFO before the commencement of the selection process.

The Leaders in attendance are as follows, Rep Dewunmi Ijaya, Hon Shitta, Hon Sapele, Hon Ayoola Elegbeji, Hon Funmi Efuwape, Prince Asenuga, Baba Olokun, Major Orekoya, Mr Kola Adenuga, amongst others
