Land dispute is becoming rampant these days as individuals and groups are always laying claims to acquisition.

Oke-Egun village is in Makun area of Sagamu local government which is also the maternal village of the current Ewusi of Makun Kingdom, his royal highness, Oba Timothy Oyesola Akinsanya, Orungba II, Ewusi of Makun Kingdom where we have the Orungba rulling house

During a press interview with the personal assistant to Ewusi, Otunba Kayode Howells, it was stated that some youths and residents were said to have rushed to the palace of Ewusi to lodged a complain on the illegal occupation of Oke-Egun village land as strangers were seen bulldozing the hectares of land that belongs to the landowner and villagers.

According to Howells, he said empathically that it was a surprise to the whole Oke-Egun residents and landowners because there must be a prior discussion with the landowners even if the government would acquire such land.

"Ewusi had sent some deligation to the land but an act of land grabbing was experienced where they saw some soldiers who were said to have been shooting sporadically as Residents scampered for safety.

"Having heard the report, Ewusi called the area Commander to give him some Policemen to visit the area in person. On their arrival to Oke-Egun village, they saw some policemen, and the area commander invited them all to his office but the policemen immediately disappeared into the thin air when they got to the entrance of the area Commander's office. Their disappearances gave an impression that they were on illegal duty. Otunba Kayode Howells stated.

Meanwhile, there is a news flying around that the government acquired the land for those strangers to build a private school according to the strangers, even without meeting the residents and landowners.

The normal process is that the government will meet the original owner of the land via bureau of lands or any other means they choose to adopt.

The residents were astonished, saying how would anyone descended on their land with the claim of acquisition without meeting the traditional ruler or having a prior discussion with the original owner of the land.

Oba Ewusi, the residents and landowners therefore use the medium to call on the executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to kindly come to their rescue and ensure that due process is being embarked on.

Otunba Kayode also said there is a need to confirm and affirm the authenticity of those strangers laying claim that they are from the government. The government should confirm if truly there was an acquisition, if that is confirmed, the original owners of the land should be met.

SON gathered that if not for the intervention of Kabiyesi Ewusi, the youths and residents would have gone confrontational with the illegal occupants on their land.

The said Oke-Egun village shared boundaries with Iwelepe, Ajetedo and many others and anything that affect Oke-Egun will definitely affect several other villages in the axis.
