President of Asaba Development Club '81 Worldwide and running mate of Chief Great Ogboru, Delta governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Ogbueshi Chinedu Sydney Allanah, on Wednesday was led by the head and elders of Allanah family of Umu-Ekwo, Umuaji of Asaba to formally inform His Royal Majesty, the Asagba of Asaba of his ambition in the coming 2023 general elections.

Spokesman for the Allanah family, Ogbueshi Ngozi Allanah told the royal father they were in the palace to inform the prominent traditional ruler that Chief Great Ogboru of the APGA has picked one of their illustrious Sons to vie as deputy governorship Candidate in 2023 and to seek Asagba's approval and blessing.

"Agu, we have come to inform you of a good omen that has not happened before in our family and in fact Asaba community in the current political dispensation. You are our father and we cannot accept and give our family support without your approval and blessing", the Allanah family spokesman stated.

When called upon to address the royal majesty, the amiable and soft-spoken businessman told the Asagba that it was his second official visit to the palace this year, adding that his first was when he assumed office as the President of ASDEV CLUB '81 Worldwide early in the year.

"This time I have come to inform my royal majesty and father that Delta state standard bearer of the All Progressive Grand Alliance has found me suitable to run with him in 2023 governorship election and I have come to seek your consent, royal advice and blessings", Ogbueshi Chinedu Allanah intoned.

Responding, the nonagenarian royal father and oldest, primost African neurosurgeon, HRM, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien reminisced the glorious political haydays, when illustrious sons of Asaba, particularly Chief Dennis Osadebey of the NCNC and Ogbueshi Nduka Eze of the Action Group, held the reins of politics and government in Midwest region and Nigeria.

The Asagba bemoaned the present political situation where Asaba seemed to have been tucked behind and in obscurity, in spite of the very significant contributions the people and community have continued to make in the overall development of Delta state and Nigeria.

"I have been wondering whether Dennis Osadebey and Nduka Eze took with them the political glory of Asaba on the demise. But with your intention and coming out to vie for the exalted seat in the state, I'm very happy and commend your courage to stand up for Aaba and Anioma.

"Asaba seems to be forgotten in the political scheme of things in Delta State and federal. It is important we have somebody we look up to in politics and government. I urged more Asaba sons and daughters to come out and get deeply involved in politics.

"I thank you my son for coming up from Asaba to vie. I and Asaba community will give you the needed support and come frequently to the palace for advice and support", the Asagba assured Allanah.

Earlier, a spokesman in the Asagba's palace, Chief Patrick Ndili recalled that although the APGA Deputy Governorship Candidate is a youth, he won the admiration, trust and confidence of the palace and entire Asaba community, when he was overwhelmingly nominated and installed the current President of ASDEV CLUB '81.
