The Ogun State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, said that it was ready to look into the frequent disruption of the academic calendar of the state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of the School had embarked on a strike early this month over non-payment of salaries for three months covering July, August and September.

The students of the school had equally staged a protest over the recent hike in admission acceptance fee from N35,000 to N50,500 as well as the delay in the release of their results which could take as long as two or more semesters.

The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Yusuf Amosun, has however presented reports of the frequent disruption of academic calendar of the polytechnic to the Assembly, coupled with the e-petition also sent to the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, on the same matter.

After debating on the issue, the Assembly resolved to convene a public hearing to address issues affecting the institution and protect the students from unnecessary delay caused by the strike.

The Speaker, Hon Oluomo, said that the public hearing would comprise stakeholders of the institution including the Governing Board, Management and Staff, as well as students and other concerned individuals with a view to finding a lasting solution to issues affecting the smooth running of the institution.
