His royal majesty, Oba Dr Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, LLB, LLM, FCA, FBR, CFR, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland and also the Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas joined other notable Ogun State Indigenes in gracing the Women Agricultural Support Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative which symbolized the enduring strength and resilience of women in our State and by extension, South West region, highlighting their pivotal role in driving agricultural innovation and economic growth.


The event which was held at the June 12 cultural center, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Tuesday, 16th of April, 2024 marked a significant event with the distinguished presence of Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the First Lady of Nigeria and convener of the Renewed Hope Initiative at the Zonal Renewed Hope Initiative for the South Western States.


Financial support of N500,000 was awarded to 20 women farmers from each State, totaling N10 million for the South West zone to benefit all the recipients.


In the framework of the Social Investment Programme, the Renewed Hope Initiative will empower 100 individuals with disabilities and small business owners in Ogun State with N100,000 each to rejuvenate their businesses.


Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, highlighted the collaboration between the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to empower farmers. She stressed that 75% of the beneficiaries, comprising young female farmers and 25% young male farmers, will receive specialised training and support to enhance their skills through this initiative.

Our administration’s commitment to empowering women is evident through the Oko’owo Dapo scheme, which has assisted over 50,000 women in expanding their businesses, offering additional funding through the Federal Government’s Nigeria for Women Project.

Akarigbo in his words appreciated and applauded the first Lady and Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration for such great and outstanding initiative in ensuring that our people are empowered.

"The Renewed Hope Initiative programme embodies our administration’s dedication to uplifting women farmers, fortifying the agricultural sector, and aligning with sustainable development goals. We firmly believe that investing in women yields benefits that extend far beyond mere moral obligations." Senator Remi said
