April 22, 2024

Remo Parliament, a non-political group which is poised for development visited Emuren community in Ward 9, Sagamu Local Government Area, to see firsthand the extent of the devastation caused by the heavy rains that fell on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Remo land is made up of people from the over 33 communities in Remo that cut across Sagamu, Remo North, and Ikenne respectively.

In addition to the delegation is the current House of Assembly Sagamu Constituency 1 Hon. Damilare Muhammed Bello (DRE), with Comrade Oluwafemi Osinubi (KlickRound), Comrade Lahbash, Comrade James Yagbalo, and Comrade Ibikunle Damilare (Dresan). They visited the community to see what could be available as succour and to offer their condolences for their losses due to the rain.

The community's road network is severely damaged, and it urgently needs to be fixed as the rainy season approaches. In addition to the over 100 houses in the community whose roofs were destroyed by the wind and rain, causing millions of naira worth of property damage, small-scale businesses were also devastated, from which the owners and traders have yet to fully recover.

We were in for a horrible and devastating moment as the community called for assistance with lost hope.

The most depressing is that Olomimeji Community High School, the only government secondary school, and St. Paul's Anglican Primary School were also affected and roof razed.

With school resumption the following week, this will have an impact on their academic activities.

The group hereby implores all levels of government, particularly the state government under the leadership of His Excellency Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun CON to visit this community and give every support it can to put a smile on the people living in this community and a plea to concerned Nigerians as well as the indigenous people and diaspora of Ogun State to step in.
