Sagamu Youth Executives Meet With REMO Area Commander, Pledges Collaboration For Sustainable Development

In a decisive move to enhance community security and development, the executives of the Sagamu Youth Association led by Comr Gbenga Isiaka Lawal a.k.a Ambassador Easy paid a courtesy visit to the Remo Area Commander in Sagamu, ACP Akinjide Jones pledging to foster a stronger partnership. This strategic meeting aimed to explore avenues for mutual collaboration to ensure the safety, peace, and overall well-being of the Sagamu metropolis.
During the discussions, key resolutions were made, which include the establishment of a Joint Task Force with active youth involvement. The initiative is intended to serve as a bridge between the community and the police in addressing security challenges and fostering a harmonious environment for residents. The following critical areas were discussed:
1. PROACTIVE RESOLUTION OF ISSUES TO AVOID ESCALATIONS
Recognizing the importance of nipping security challenges in the bud, the Joint Task Force will prioritize swift identification and resolution of potential conflicts. The youth pledged to act as a first line of defense by identifying flashpoints and reporting them promptly to law enforcement authorities to prevent any form of escalation.
2. PROVISION OF PIVOTAL INFORMATION TO COMBAT CRIMINALITY
We underscored our commitment to supporting the police in intelligence gathering while assuring the Area Commander of our readiness to furnish the police with timely and actionable information on any form of criminality, ranging from petty theft to organized crime. This collaboration will leverage the youths’ deep-rooted connection with the community to uncover hidden threats and swiftly address them.
3. Periodic Public Orientation and Sensitization
As part of the partnership, the youth executives and the Area Command agreed on the need for regular public orientation and sensitization campaigns. These programs will focus on safety, crime prevention, and fostering a culture of security consciousness among residents. By engaging the public through town hall meetings, seminars, and media outreach, the collaboration aims to build a well-informed and vigilant community.
4. Sustaining Peace Through Community Policing
The meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining the peace currently enjoyed in Sagamu. We reaffirmed our belief in community policing as an effective strategy to sustain security in the metropolis. By involving local stakeholders and neighborhood watch groups, the collaboration seeks to create a sense of collective responsibility for the safety of our Town.

The Area Commander commended the Sagamu Youth Association for their proactive approach and reassured them of the police’s commitment to working closely with the community. He noted that this partnership reflects a shared vision of fostering a secure and enabling environment for growth and development in Sagamu.
The Sagamu Youth Association, led by its President, Comrade Lawal Olugbenga aka Ambassador Easy and other executives, emphasized that this collaboration goes beyond security, aiming to promote social cohesion and an inclusive governance model that prioritizes the needs of all residents.
