BREAKING: SAGAMU INAUGURATES LOCAL COUNCIL LEGISLATORS, ELECTS PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

History was again made today when the legislative arm of the Sagamu local government council was inaugurated.


The August to remember event had in attendance, party leaders, members and well wishers from all the 15wards of Sagamu. Notable among the dignitaries present is the Deputy Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon Segun Shitta, Hon Adeniran Ademola from Sagamu State Constituency II, Dr Adeleke Adedoyin Asoludero, Alhaji Chief Teslum Dawodu, Otunba M.A Orekoya, Alhaji Lamidi Odulanwa, Chief Adelesi and a host of others.


The business of the event was presided over by the Clerk of the House, Mr Ogunyanwo who administered both the oath of allegiance and the oath of office for the 15 elected Councillors. The Clerk in his opening speech charged the elected Councillors to seek people's welfare first, in all their deliberations and debates.


The first legislative duty of the inaugurated councillors started with the nomination of Hon Ayodele Ojuroye (Ward 15) as the Leader of the House by Hon Awoderu Idris Oluwaseun (Ward 7) and was seconded by Hon Femi Bankole Oguntayo (Ward 1). Hon Babalola Emmanuel (Ward 10) also emerged the Deputy Leader of the House while Hon Adekunle Folarin (Ward 6) emerged the Majority Leader and Hon Rasheed Olokun was elected the Chief Whip of the House.


The Executive Chairman of Sagamu local government, Ogbeni Jubril Afolabi Odulate in his speech seeks the legislators' cooperation and supports in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Sagamu. He thereafter called on them to see this as a call to service.


The motion for the adjournment was moved by Hon Adekunle Folarin and was seconded by Hon Mustapha Azeez while Hon Mustapha Azeez did the vote of thanks. The event was brought to a closure with a closing prayer by Hon Rasheed Olokun.
