POLITICS: Ogun Political Race, A Marathon, Requires Mental, Physical Strength Says Akinlade

August 25, 2021

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade has said that the political race in the state requires spiritual, emotional, mental and physical strength.

Akinlade stated this while answering the question on why he has decided to now engage in exercise every morning. He noted that to sustain one’s resilience and preparedness towards contributing to the development of the state, one must keep fit both mentally and physically.

He further said: “Like Senator Ibikunle Amosun would say that to be principled, one needs to have firm character and to sustain such character, you must be prepared to make sacrifices which further requires discipline. Sustainable discipline requires all-round fitness.

“Recent political developments in Ogun State and at the national level point to the fact that only the politically fit will be relevant come 2023 and beyond. To this end, it is safe to conclude that the race ahead is not a sprint but a marathon thus, the need to keep fit,” he concluded.

He, however, thanked members of APC across Ogun State, especially the Senator Ibikunle Amosun political family for coming out during the recently concluded ward congress to elect their preferred ward officers while calling on everyone to repeat the same feat come 4th of September 2021 by supporting the delegates in electing the local government party officials.

Akinlade expressed happiness over what he described as the enthusiasm among the Senator Ibikunle Amosun political family and the courageous disposition of party members across the state. He said: “No one can kill people’s passion and resolve for self-determination, thus, our detractors failed.”
