The Governorship Candidate, African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ogun State, has paid glowing tribute to the heroics of YEWA-AWORI forbears for their struggles towards a better Ogun West since 1976, at the 10th Anniversary Gala night of Ilaro descendants Union in UK and Ireland, held at the weekend.

The well attended annual event had eminent YEWA-AWORI  sons and daughters, including the Paramount ruler of Yewaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle present.

Barr. 'Biyi Otegbeye, in his goodwill message, saluted the gallantry  and acknowledged the struggles of YEWA- AWORI forbears towards the emancipation of Ogun West, since the creation of the State, but regretted the disunity and multiplicity of candidacy until now that he has a divine providence and rare privilege as the only Governorship candidate of YEWA-AWORI extraction on the ballot for the 2023 gubernatorial elections.

'Biyi Otegbeye, who was ably represented by his wife, Mrs Roli Otegbeye, said, "I stand before you in the shoes of our forebearers who laboured so hard and paid huge price for our emancipation and I salute their gallantry".

In  no particular order, Otegbeye recognised the heroes of YEWA-AWORI struggle and mentioned, (in no particular order) ODEBIYI , OYAGBOLA , OTEGBEYE , ABIORO, OTEGBOLA ,OLABINTAN , ANISULOWO , Olurin, APAMPA , ASIWAJU , AFONJA, AKINLEYE , BELLO , BAJOMO , OLATUNJI, AKINTOLA, (while apologising for names not mentioned) since 3rd February, 1976, when Ogun State was created.

While lamenting the suffering of YEWA-AWORI people under the current administration in the State, Otegbeye said, "Education is relegated and we have the highest drop out rate in Ogun State! Medi-care is comatose and you will be shocked by the state of our hospitals! Our hitherto hardworking mothers and wives have been forced into slavery of debts because they now survive on "Gurumi" - unregulated micro loan schemes operated by loan shark syndicates."

Speaking further, he said, "our daughters and sons now face an uncertain future with glaring unemployment after working so hard to graduate from college. Bandits and kidnappers have taken over our rural towns and night life is fast disappearing.  Cultism and ritual killings are now rampant."
Otegbeye expressed great concern on the deplorable condition of roads in Ogun West axis citing the Ilara, Ijoun, Eggua, Oja-Odan, Ilase to Owode road. While not forgetting the terrible shape of Ado Odo, Ikoga to Igbesa road to Oke Odan, Eiyekose, Owo, Ilaro township roads and many more in a mess of neglect.

Barr. Otegbeye paid glowing tribute to the paramount ruler and Olu of *YEWALAND*, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and other traditional rulers and urged the Ilaro Descendants Union in UK and Ireland to rally support for him as a 'consensus' Candidate in the forthcoming Ogun governorship Poll, in 2023. He added, "I urge all of you to rally round our paramount ruler, other Kabiyesi  and my humble self as a 'consensus' Candidate and let's work in unity to mobilise all sons and daughters of *ILARO,* all sons and daughters of *YEWA-AWORI*, all indigenes of Ogun State and all registered voters in Ogun State to vote for me on March 11, 2023, as the next Governor of Ogun State and to vote for African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He finally seized the opportunity to thank the Ilaro Descendant Union in UK and Ireland for the innumerable contributions towards alleviating the suffering of people back home. Otegbeye said, "Ilaro Descendant Union in UK and Ireland has always played a pivotal role in alleviating the sufferings of our people and contributing immensely to the development of our dear ILARO. How can I ever forget your leadership role during the COVID-19 Pandemic!  I salute you all.
