Some business owners at Odi Olowo Street, behind Total filling station, in Sabo area of Sagamu local government in Ogun State have bemoaned the fire which burnt their shops and destroyed goods, valuable properties said to worth millions of naira.
Save Our Nation (SON) gathered that the fire, which gutted many shops in the area started around 12:05am on Thursday.
The fire was allegedly caused by an electrical spark inside one of the shops down Odi Olowo Street immediately they brought electricity.
An eyewitness, Adebimpe said, “We were sleeping when some security guards and some Residents started shouting, banging at the door. When we rushed out, I saw the fire burning inside the shops, we took out to get water to quench the fire, but unfortunately, fire service that was contacted didn't have water to quench the fire which led to more shops being burnt around 1:30 am.”
According to SON correspondent, foodstuffs, freezers, soft drinks, phones, phone accessories, houses, shops etc were destroyed by the fire.
