OGUN: SAGAMU LG: BUDGET PRESENTATION: Odulate Proposes #3.6 Billion Budget Size For 2023

The Chairman of Sagamu local government, Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate AFO presented the 2023 budget to the legislative house in Sagamu on Monday, April 3rd, 2023.

This was contained in a press statement issued through his media team.

"The Vice Chairman, 

The Leader,

The Supervisors, 

The Directors/Heads of Departments,

Members of the Press,

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen.

 

"It gives me a great pleasure and delight to stand before this Distinguished Honourable House this morning to present this year's Proposed Annual Financial Budget of this Local Government today. You will recall that a similar exercise was conducted last year. 

"Permit me to recap the unfortunate incident that befell this Local Government on the February 20th, 2023 wherein wanton destruction of valuable properties of this Local Government were burnt and utterly destroyed. It is indeed a colossal destruction that would cost this Local Government Millions of Naira to restore back. 

"Last year, a Budget size of #3,578,204,670.00 was presented to this house for your express approval. Similarly, the sum of #645,951,866.54 was received from the Federation Account as Statutory Allocation, while the sum of #62,857,348.28 was generated as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

"However, this year, the sum of #3,671,754,670.00, is being proposed as the total Budget size, of which #1,692,251,451.70 is earmarked for Recurrent Expenditure, #283,611,500 is for Overhead Cost, and the sum of #567,797,500.00 is proposed as Capital Expenditure. 

Permit me to emphasis at this juncture that we have resolved to redouble our efforts in ensuring that all available support would be provided for our staff in order to enhance more revenue generation this year. 

"It is against this background that I most humbly solicit for the support of this Honourable house for the timely passage of this very important document. Let me reiterate here that the essence of our being voted here is to provide Dividend of Democratic gains to our dear people of which without being immodest this Administration has kicked started with the construction of key major Roads: Mellor and Cinema, apart from the construction of Trailer Parks and Market at Ogijo and as well as an Health Centre. 

"This Administration is doggedly following the footprint of our dearly beloved Leader and Governor: Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR so as to ensure that our people at the grassroot are adequately taken care of. 

"Finally, as I used to tell you, the upliftment of Sagamu Local Government begins from you and me." AFO stated.
