Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, the Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State, has praised the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for the comprehensive reconstruction of the 70-kilometer Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos road, which had been neglected for many years.

Speaking at the groundbreaking and flag-off ceremony held in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Sokoya, who represented the entire transport unions in Ogun State, expressed deep appreciation to the governor for responding to the longstanding pleas of the people.

“On behalf of the entire transport unions in Ogun State, I extend heartfelt congratulations to our distinguished and proactive governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for addressing the critical needs of our people. It is well-known that this road is a federal responsibility, yet, recognizing its significance and the urgency of its repair, our governor took the initiative to lobby the federal government and secure the necessary approvals for its reconstruction. This action clearly demonstrates that the governor is attuned to the needs of the people and understands their challenges.

“Your Excellency, this is a monumental achievement that previous administrations were unable to accomplish. You have been advocating for this road since your first term, and today, we celebrate the fruition of your efforts. The leadership of the transport unions in Ogun State is particularly grateful for this project, which directly impacts our members. We pray that God grants you the strength and wisdom to see this project through to completion, and we look forward to its grand commissioning by His grace.”

The Abeokuta/Ota/Lagos highway, long overlooked, had previously been approved for construction, but due to inadequate funding, it had deteriorated into a hazardous route for road users. The commencement of its reconstruction marks a significant step toward alleviating these challenges.
