The flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Oko Ati Ada Road was a momentous occasion that brought together dignitaries, community leaders, and residents of Remo land to celebrate a significant step towards infrastructural development in the region.

The event began with a warm welcome address by Alhaji Sanni from Ogijo Ward 10, who set the tone for the day’s proceedings. He acknowledged the hard work and commitment of the Deputy Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, fondly known as Ijaya, in her relentless pursuit of progress for the people of Remo.

In his remarks, Asiwaju S.K. Onafowokan lauded Ijaya's exceptional performance, highlighting that no one had achieved what she had within such a short period. He specifically commended her efforts in addressing the long-neglected Oko Ati Ada Road, which had been overlooked by previous representatives. ASIWAJU Onafowokan praised Ijaya for setting a new standard of excellence and dedication in public service.

While representing the Akarigbo and on behalf of the other Obas present, Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Oriyomi Soile conveyed the greetings of the Akarigbo to all and sundry. He expressed the deep appreciation of the Obas and people of Remo for Ijaya's contributions to the development of the region. According to him, the entire Remo community is grateful for her efforts in bringing much-needed improvements to the area.

Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, also expressed her gratitude to all attendees. She noted that the people of Sagamu had long awaited the construction of Oko Ati Ada Road and thanked Ijaya for making it a reality. Hon. Efuwape emphasized that this project is only the beginning of many more to come, reflecting Ijaya's commitment to fulfilling the dreams of her constituents.

Oba Timothy Akinsanya, the Ewusi of Makun Kingdom, congratulated the Obas present for witnessing such a historic occasion. He expressed his appreciation to Ijaya for fulfilling her promise to the people during the Obaruwa festival, particularly regarding the Oko Ati Ada Road. Oba Akinsanya highlighted that Ijaya's efforts have significantly improved the lives of the Makun people, and they are proud to have her as a leader in their journey towards greatness. He also encouraged her to continue her work, particularly on the Ode Lemo to Sagamu and Emuren to Sagamu roads.

Hon. Muri Awolaja, the former APC Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, reminisced about the several aborted attempts to construct the Oko Ati Ada Road and especially in 1989 when the then military administrator, Raji was called off while inspecting the road for construction. He expressed confidence that Ijaya would complete the project by God's grace. He emphasized that the road's completion would bring about significant development in the area.

Otunba Sokoya, also known as Danku, called on the community to keep supporting Ijaya with their prayers. He prayed that God would help her in her mission to light up Akarigbo Road from RSS to Remo Divisional High School.

Representing Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Aro Kolade Segun Oke-Owo shared that the day was the happiest day for the people of Makun Sagamu, as the road is vital to the heart of the Makun Kingdom. He thanked Ijaya for her tireless work, noting that this is a golden era for Sagamu, with both a Senator and House of Representatives member from the area.

Finally, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip, addressed the gathering. She expressed her deep appreciation to the Elepe of Epe and the other Royal Fathers present. She reaffirmed her commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Remo land. While she mentioned that it is not in her nature to host elaborate ceremonies, she felt it was important to inform the community that the road project would be carried out by both herself and Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel who would be starting from the Simawa end. She urged the people to trust in God as they moved forward with more projects, including the upcoming Kereke Ifa project, which would commence soon.

The contractor, Daisygo Construction Group, represented by Engr. Victor assured the gathering that the construction was being carried out with the support of SHEDA under the Ministry of Science and Technology, ensuring the project’s success and timely completion.

Other distinguished guests included Oba Solomon Oguntade, the Orimadegun of Araromi, Sagamu, Oba Sonuga, the Fadesewa of Simawa, the Lisa of Makun Kingdom, the immediate past Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Odulate Afolabi, Hon. Ajetumobi, party faithful, and numerous community members who came together to witness this landmark event.
