Introduction
The Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) embarked on a transformative journey 108 days ago, driven by a commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and advocacy for better opportunities for Sagamu indigenes. Within this short period, our administration under the leadership of Comrade Olugbenga Isiaka Lawal popularly known as Ambassador Easy has made significant strides in employment facilitation, security, skill acquisition, education, and infrastructure development.
This report highlights our key achievements, ongoing projects, and future initiatives that will ensure continuous growth and prosperity for Sagamu youths.
Key Achievements in 100 Days
1. Employment & Economic Empowerment
Facilitated the employment of three Sagamites at Apple and Pearls.
Ensured the employment of two staff at Nestlé Nigeria Plc.
Successfully secured 30 contract staff positions at Nestlé, Olam, and Apple and Pearls through SYA efforts.
Youth Data Base; Ensured the collation of unemployed youth in Sagamu metropolis.
Facilitated the employment of 15 Sagamu youths at Wasil.
Ensured the reinstatement of Sagamu indigenes in companies at Sagamu Interchange Flowergate companies, protecting their jobs and livelihoods.
2. Skill Acquisition & Youth Development
Launched the SYA Python Programming Training, fully sponsored by Kabiyesi Elepe and Captain Oyeleke Folajuwon Oluwole, to equip youths with essential tech skills.
Partnered with stakeholders to expand vocational training in agriculture, digital marketing, and creative arts.
3. Education & Scholarships
Facilitated sponsorship 10 indigent students for free JAMB registration through Mr Bosun Davies Shoyoye to encourage higher education within Sagamu Local Government.
Provided financial aid and educational materials to students in need.
4. Security, Peace, & Drug Abuse Prevention
Co-championed the peace and stability that Sagamu enjoys today by actively mediating conflicts and promoting unity.
Worked jointly with SPAF and NDLEA to combat drug abuse in Sagamu, ensuring a healthier youth community.
5. Infrastructure & Community Development
Advocated for and achieved the rehabilitation of the ecological issue at Dalof Junction and Ologede along the tollgate in Sagamu.
Championed the completion of Olomimeji Secondary School Emuren’s toilet and borehole project, executed by Lafarge/RIDSCo.
SYA is an integral part of the five-man committee that inspected the land designated for the construction of a Youth House/Youth Center, as instructed by His Royal Majesty, the Akarigbo of Remoland.
6. Energy & Power Stability
SYA’s engagement with IBEDC led to a significant stabilization of power supply in Sagamu before the collapse of the national grid.
7. Strengthening Traditional & Community Relations
Maintained and sustained strong relationships with all palaces in Sagamu Local Government, ensuring synergy between the youth body and traditional institutions.
Ongoing & Upcoming Initiatives
1. Expansion of Tech & Vocational Training – More youths will be trained in Python programming, renewable energy solutions, and entrepreneurial skills.
2. Youth Entrepreneurship Grants – Providing soft loans and business support to young entrepreneurs.
3. Annual Sagamu Youth Summit – A platform to engage policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders on youth empowerment.
4. Increased Advocacy for Youth Employment – Continuing discussions with major companies in Sagamu to prioritize local employment.
5. Youth Center Project – Working closely with traditional rulers and stakeholders to establish a fully functional Youth House.
